    Workshops provide the chance to participate in a more in depth session with practitioners in their field and benefit from their immense experience.

    Come prepared with your own project and questions about how they do it, engage with their thinking process, learn who influenced them and get inspired.

    To book a place contact the workshop tutor. There are limited places, so please book early to avoid disappointment. While a majority of places are reserved for students from Wintec and the University, there will be a few available to the general public.

    MONDAY 9th August

    Rebecca Swan Workshop P block Wintec. 2pm Monday 9th August 2010

    Noted NZ photographer Rebecca Swan, will be running a workshop also, and students booked in to the cancelled Mary Mattingly workshop will have priority of attendance. Consequently, this workshop is FULL. Contact david.cook@wintec.ac.nz if you would like to be advised if any places become available.

    Soda Inc: Hamilton’s Creative Industries Hub workshop: Monday 9th August, 2pm, Soda Inc (Meteor) – THIS WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL

    ‘T-shirts and suits’ – a creative approach to running a business.  Cheryl Reynolds , CEO of Soda Inc (Hamilton’s incubator hub for creative industries) will run a workshop on what are the steps to establishing creative business practice.

    TUESDAY 10th August

    Lesley Duxbury: Tuesday 10th August, 2pm, R Block
    Priority will given to post-graduate students

    This workshop will help students identify and articulate a research topic – quickly. Through a series of short exercises participants will exapand the parameters of their practice, which will result in a succint and engaging presentation to encapsulate a potential project.

    Note: participants should ideally bring a laptop to use during the workshop.

    Morgan Samuel: Wednesday 11th August, S block
    Sound Design and Precision Sound Editing.
    This workshop will be an in depth 2 hour hands-on experience, covering the basics of Sound Design and Precision Sound Editing.

    Martha Goes Green workshop: Wednesday 11 August, R Block
    The workshop will include an overview of the advantages of self publishing vs. commercial publishing and their shared experiences in creating Martha Goes Green, from concept to marketing to distribution and all the steps in between.

    Participants are invited to bring along examples of their art and/or writing and take part in an informal workshop, incorporating creative collaboration, brainstorming, design and distribution exercises to help give participants the confidence to launch and sell their own publications

    Greer McDonald Workshop 1: Wednesday 11th August, 2pm, P block (P1.19) THIS WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL
    Fairfax journalist Greer McDonald will discuss how digital media has changed the way news is reported. She will talk about the different tools which are now used to stay in touch with what’s happening, and the different ways readers are consuming the news. Greer will also discuss problems associated with the new era of the job, such as privacy issues and the changing shape of newsrooms.

    Rastko Ciric Animation Workshop: Friday 13 August, 9am-1pm, Upstairs Lounge, WEL Energy Academy of Performing Arts, University of Waikato

    Rastko will be showing a selection of his short films.  Discussing processes, work development and phases.  Plus adjusting illustrations for different media.
